"DreamWorks has acquired rights to the Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" with plans to adapt the futuristic police thriller as a 3-D live-action feature."
Tell me that doesn't excite. Just try and say that without smiling. Yeah, I didn't think so. This is definitely exciting news for all of us Batou loving nerds who have been waiting for something awesome like this to happen. Oh, and did I mention that the movie is being produced and directed by Steven Spielberg?
Granted, I'm not the biggest Ghost in the Shell fan, but I definitely thought it was a cool concept and it's a perfect candidate for a live action adaption. This gets me excited for a couple of reasons. First of all, it means that more and more studios are realizing the potential of turning animes into live actions. And second, I really hope this begins a trend. There are at least two anime live action adaptions I know of thus far, including this one, and so far they both sound awesome. (Yes, I'm a DBZ fan. So sue me.)
Now they need to start doing a few other good anime live actions. Then I'll be happy. =D
