Microsoft Pitting Argo Against iPod, Nintendo DS, PSP

Finally fed up with consumer electronics manufacturers failed attempts to defeat everyone's favorite Cupertinonian music player, Microsoft went ahead and devoted a few hundred-million dollars to their own doomed affront to product usability. Yes, our good friends from Redmond have failed to learn from everyone else's mistakes by going with the one-up tactic. Instead of realizing that the reason everyone likes iPods is because they don't have too many things in the way of playing music, Microsoft believes that what everyone really wants is an entire XBOX in the way of their music. Codenamed Argo, their new device will be XBOX branded and released along side yet another service from Microsoft to compete with the iTunes Music Store. So not only does MS want a piece of Apple's pie, but they've pointed their finger at Nintendo and SONY's lucrative (more so Nintendo) portable game markets and asked un-politely for the pain. Keep it up guys. Self-destructing mega-corporations make for a lot of great blog posts.

CleanFlicks deemed "Unconstituntional"

Remember that great place down the road where you can rent that crazy awesome movie you've always wanted to see but never did because it was rated R and you didn't want to have to see the gruesome, gore-filled violence, ridiculous language, or gratuitous sex scene, but the place cleaned it up so it didn't have all the nasty stuff and left a nice, relatively "family friendly" movie behind? **sorry for run on**

Well, now U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch has ruled that "scrubbing" movies so that they keep out those disgusting little pointless bits of derogatory filth violates copyright laws. Yup, that's right! Now CleanFlicks, among 3 other companies, have to put up shop and hand over their inventory to abide by this ruling. Ray Lines, the head of CleanFlicks, says that this is just a "David v Goliath", rewritten by Hollywood.

Another interesting piece of information are the directors involved in pushing this issue to court. Among 16 others, Steven Spielberg, Robert Redford, and Marin Scorsese. They say the objective is "to stop the infringement because of its irreparable injury to the creative artistic expression in the copyrighted movies," the judge wrote. "There is a public interest in providing such protection."

Sounds to me like Satan and his demons are at it again and are just trying to make it that much harder to live in this decrepit system.

Homestar Runner Returns!

Wow! First off let me start off by saying HOLY COW it's been forever since there's been a decent post on here! Let's not let this lull happen again guys! ... That said: Woo Hoo!! Homestar Runner has finally returned after a month long hiatus. It's nice to see the guys there got their act together and got it back up and running. I've missed Strongbad. For awhile I was a little scared I freaked him out because the week they stopped updating the site, I had sent in a little request to Strongbad asking him whether or not he'd ever get married. I SCARED STRONGBAD AWAY!! OH NOES !!!

Anyway, they made up for it by posting a nice little cartoon. Welcome Back Homestar! And welcome back Divertissmentz !!.... or however you spell that ....

Nintendo DS to make its movie debut!

A news post over at Nintendo tells about the Nintendo DS' s motion picture debut. The movie, Stormbreaker, is set to debut in the UK on July 21st, while it is set to release in the US on October 6th. In the movie, the DS is used as a multi purpose Spy device by inserting diffirent "cards". I Am assuming these are either DS or GBA cartridges, but who can know for sure until they come out with the movie.

First Leaked Image of Live Action Transformer

Well, there it is. That's all we get for now. Apparently Jalopnic had more but Paramount asked them to take it down and they totally wussed out. Regardless, that's still some incredible stuff in that one shot. The animatronics there are so fantastic they look computer generated. Supposed to be Bumble Bee by the way. He must be in the middle of transforming. How embarrassing for him.

HD DVD and Blu-ray DOA

I've always had a nagging feeling whenever I read anything about the new high-definition DVD formats. While the technophile in me was totally down for a medium that finally allowed full use of a HD television, the practical side of me saw serious road blocks. Largest of these hurdles rang especially true for me. I don't myself own an HD television. And I know I am not alone. HD has a pitifully low penetration in the market and it's not getting better soon. Now that this article has outlined the rest of the problems for HD DVD and Blu-ray it has become quite clear that HD on a disc at the store will not be beating DVD as we know it today. Now, HD that you downloaded on your new Mac from iTunes on the other hand...

RVB on XboxLive

So, for all of you who enjoy RvB, they have a post on their Site that talks about their new series for Xbox360 owners, Out of Mind, which can be downloaded on your 360. Pretty cool huh. Man I wish I had a 360.
